Kuslean audio release

he last evening of June 30, 2008 marked the coming together of who’s who of industry for Rajinikanth’s next venture - Kuselan’s audio launch at Le Meridian. The conference hall at Le Meridian with a capacity of 400 was brimming with a crowd that constituted of VIPs and fans amounting to 1500.

The two hour long affair consisted of emotional speeches, generous distribution of health tips, and the much awaited audio launch. Latha Rajinikanth, Dhanush, Aishwarya, Vadivelu, Abirami Ramanathan, and Sivaji films Ramkumar took part in the event among others.

Since Kuselan narrates the tale of two friends, the audio launch started off with the chief invitees giving away audio CDs to their close friends after the official launch in which K Balachander presented the first copy of audio to A R Rahman. While superstar presented a copy of the audio to his friend Murali, Director P Vasu called upon his friend Leo Christopher to the stage for the same purpose. G.V Prakash gifted a copy to his friend Vijay and Jegabathy Babu to Arjun. Bharathiraja became emotional and broke into tears when Balachander invited him to the stage to receive his friend's copy.

Addressing the gathering moments later, Bharathiraja mentioned that human emotions could rarely be controlled, in an attempt to justify his tears. He stated that he considered Balachander’s gift to be more honorable than Padma Shri. “I had watched his Neerkumizhi many times before stepping into the industry and wondered if I could ever reach that level,” he stated further adding that he felt privileged being called his friend.

Rajinikanth revealed his secret of staying young in his speech. Rajini stated: “I have had people tell me that I look younger in Kuselan than in Sivaji. My secret is to avoid what I call white food: namely - salt, sugar, rice, pills, milk, curd, and ghee. One can eat anything before 40 but to avoid white food it is the secret to stay young after 40.” He also stated that positive thoughts serve as lubricants for the functioning of the human body.

Superstar announced his plans of contributing Rs. 15 lakhs from his remuneration for the welfare of technicians who were employed in Kuselan. It was also mentioned that producers Kavithalaya, Seven Arts, and Vaijayanthi banners would make their contribution for the initiative.

Further in his address, Rajini mentioned that G.V. Prakash is the right mix of Ilayaraja and A R Rahman and that he loved Veyil’s music. “He has immense talent and will undoubtedly succeed,” he added. As an ending note, he noted that KB has the role of Rajinikanth’s parent in the industry while Sivaji Gaekwad’s parents are different.

Rahman, in his short speech, recollected that KB’s Kavithalaya was his first producer. He stated that G.V Prakash has his parents’ blessings and he will achieve greater successes. Prakash, in turn, mentioned in his speech that Rahman is his guru and the he is a hard-core Rajini fan

Open drives by double clicking

Ada..A way of life-that's the latest film in Bollywood for A R Rahman.I must say the songs are truly impressive,with that proper Rahmanic touch in each of the numbers.Currently a song called Meherbaan is my favorite.You will find it playing in the jukebox below.Gum Sum and Gulfisha are also good.The Meherbaan instrumental also impresses.Ishq ada hai is a number that is typical slow poisoning from Rahman.Ada is indeed a wonderful album.Hats off to ARR!

Jodi No 1 Finals Results

My last year Halloween Costume

Halloween spells fun,doesn't it? Last year I decided to dress up as Johnny Depp,one of my favorite characters.I even practised talking like him and tried to imitate that magnetic mannerism,with the wobbly gait and all thrown in for good measure.I was pretty sure I would be noticed! But a few days before the D-day,imagine my surprise(which came as a bad one) when I found that around ten people from my neighbourhood had decided to dress up as Depp.I was crestfallen;I had to drop the idea as dressing up as the Black Pearl's captain;after all,Halloween is supposed to be fun,not a competition to decide who imitates the best.

Simbu was injured during shooting of his latest film Silambattam yesterday.The actor has apparently sprained his ankle while doing a stunt scene.He was rushed to the hospital immediately and the shooting was called off temporarily.Seems he has to rest for a week at least.At the same time elsewhere,actor Prasanna from Kanda Naal Mudhal fame,sustained a bruise while shooting for an action sequence.He took a punch to his head from a villain actor.Prasanna was temporarily stunned but recovered on the sets.The shooting was continued.

A cool way to chill out

This summer,I decided to beat the heat by joining a swimming club.I didn't know how to swim before then,and the learning experience was therefore something new.I joined a club at TNCA in chepauk and went for 12 classes along with two of my friends.Now I can do the front stroke decently,albeit not getting the breathing technique very well.I suppose I'll get the hang of it in due course of time.

Disabling the Windows Splash screen

I have always wondered what goes on behind the Windows Splash screen at startup.Lol,I used to imagine Windows was doing something sneaky with my data while innocently welcoming me with its logo,during the startup.You can actually disable the splash screen and see the loading process(though its very limited and you won't actually see Windows loading t he drivers and other stuff).To disable the windows splash screen,

Right click on My Computer->Properties.
Click on the Advanced tab.Under Startup and Recovery,click on Settings button.
You'll see an Edit button;click on that.A text file should open up in notepad.The last line will look something like this:

multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect

To this line,append /SOS(a space followed by /SOS).Now the new line should be:

multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect /SOS

Save the text file and close the remaining windows by clicking on OK.You won't get the Splash screen the next time you boot up.To revert to the old settings,simply remove the /SOS switch and save the text file.

A cool flash animation

Countless number of animations have been done with Flash for the purpose of fun,but I believe this is probably one of the best.The animation artist has taken Flash into the scenario and based his animation on a stick diagram.Lol the animation isn't all that complex but the concept has brought out the creativity in the animator. :-)

Dasavatharam:justifies its name but thats about it

When Kamal's making a film there are more than just normal expectations.Dasavatharam was no exception,with the hype reaching unprecedented heights.I am a fan of When Kamal Hassan's making a new film,the expectations are bound to be high and DasavatharamKamal thanks to the impressive storyline the genius comes up with.But Dasavatharam was nevertheless disappointing with a very feeble story based on the concept of a bio weapon that goes into the wrong hands and a lesser-touched upon Chaos theory.Kamal,as usual,will impress you with his acting skills.
The film starts off in 12 A.D,with a scenario portraying the conflict that existed between Shivites and Vaishnavites.Kamal as Ramanujam Iyengar impresses along with Napolean(as Kulothonga Chozhan).The story then moves to the year 2004 from where the other 9 'avatars' of Kamal are introduced.Kamal as a scientist plays the lead character(with Asin as his lady love)I was impressed with the CIA agent(the villain) and Poovaragahan;the other roles seemed as if they were in the script so that the film could be named "Dasavatharam".Asin has done justice to her role as a Iyengar girl but nevertheless won't linger in your mind.Mallika Sharawath has done her part expected from here;glamour.
'Nuff said,Dasavatharam qualifies as a one-time-see and that too for Kamal's acting finesse;it definitely isn't one of his best films,in my opinion.

And oh,I thought I'd mention the names of the ten characters done by Kamal in Dasavatharam:

Stars react to Dasavatharam

Stars from the tinsel town apparently couldn't wait for June 13 for Kamal Hassan's magnum opus to be released.The preview was shown to big wheels like the Chief Minister and Rajini Kanth.Film stars like Surya,Jothika,Manorama and K.Balachander also took a sneak preview at Dasavatharam.Here are the reactions from these people:

Surya: “Stunning. I’m not going to be able to sleep for a month, Dasavatharam will haunt my dreams. “Kamal’s Annachi character is his funniest performance ever.”

Jyothika: “Marvellous. I’ve never seen anything like it”.

Karthi: “Dasavatharam is tremendous – it has shaken me up.

Monorama: “I cried.”

Director K.Balachandar didn’t speak – he ran to Kamal and tried lifting him up physically to show his applause. Kamal quickly stopped him and they hugged.

The film is to be released worldwide tomorrow.It is a film probably with the highest expectations ever in the Indian film industry.

N(Not-to-bo-bought) Series

It has been exactly a year since I bought my N70ME.To be truthful,I ain't too happy with it.I generally like devices(especially those with User Interfaces aka UIs) to be fast and responsive.Countless numbers of times mom has caught me giving a slap or two to the CPU when it just doesn't deliver the clock cycles I demand,before I disposed off it and bought a new one.My N70 is simply D-E-A-D slow on opening about everything.Pity that I can't give it a slap,its small for that;nor can I drop it in a fit of rage then I'd find myself with a dead cell phone.Yeah..my dear mobile indeed plays with my emotions though I'm not in love with it ha ha..

A R Rahman was all smiles though simplicity as usual at the IIFA awards function.He won two awards-one for Best Music Director Award for his effervescent melodies for Guru,and the other for Outstanding Contribution by an Indian in International Cinema.ARR indeed makes India proud,doesn't he?

Sakkarakatti-a long wait for ARR fans

We know ARR takes a long time with his projects(and consequently the output is top notch) but Sakkarakatti has really made ARR fans sigh(yours truly being no exception) with the music release being delayed for over 3 months.The latest buzz is that the music will be out within a week(hopefuuly).Nothing is confirmed yet;we'll know when ARR makes his trip to the Darga,a thing he does every time when his music for a film is released.

Appearances can be deceiving-so can names

Apparently,chop suey is not a Chinese dish after all,at least technically speaking.It was invented in America by Chinese cooks.Fancy a dish having an Oriental name yet not originating from China.I believe it was invented in pretty much the same way that Chicken Manchurian was invented in a Bombay restaurant!
