Noted music composer A R Rahman, has ambitious plans up his sleeve.

In spite of his busy schedule, he has started the K M School of Music to promote and propagate Indian and Western music. He has now gone a step ahead and is aspiring to help aged musicians who are suffering due to various reasons.

'It has been my dream for a very long time to help musicians, especially aged ones who are now unable to perform,' said Rahman in a recent interview.

However, the 'Mozart of Madras' feels that he cannot run the show effectively all alone. 'I need some others too to work for this noble cause. If anyone comes forward, I will join them.'

Rahman is flying high currently for he would be composing music for the movies starring two big stars of Indian cinema - Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth. This soft-spoken music composer par excellence is scoring music for ‘Marmayogi’ and ‘Robot’ simultaneously.

Ada my current favorite

Ada..A way of life-that's the latest film in Bollywood for A R Rahman.I must say the songs are truly impressive,with that proper Rahmanic touch in each of the numbers.Currently a song called Meherbaan is my favorite.You will find it playing in the jukebox below.Gum Sum and Gulfisha are also good.The Meherbaan instrumental also impresses.Ishq ada hai is a number that is typical slow poisoning from Rahman.Ada is indeed a wonderful album.Hats off to ARR!

ARR starts composing for Robot

News is that A R Rahman has started work on Robot,the latest Rajini starrer.While director Shankar is busy with choosing the shooting spots,ARR has apparently started composing for the film(I wonder if he still plays video games in between the composing sessions :) ) The trio joined hands to give the blockbuster Sivaji last year.Let's hope that ARR's songs in Robot are as good as Sivaji's :)

ARR's very first number

I have been a fan of A R Rahman ever since I listened to the song Thirakatha Kaattukulle from En Suvasakatre and that was during my standard 8.I have come a long way since;I believe I have listened to every composition of his that has gone through his recording studio and come out.But I was surprised to learn that his very first song was in a malayalam film Penpada.The song is titled "Vellithen Kinnampol".It is a good melody.

ARR bags two awards at IIFA

A R Rahman was all smiles though simplicity as usual at the IIFA awards function.He won two awards-one for Best Music Director Award for his effervescent melodies for Guru,and the other for Outstanding Contribution by an Indian in International Cinema.ARR indeed makes India proud,doesn't he?

Sakkarakatti-a long wait for ARR fans

We know ARR takes a long time with his projects(and consequently the output is top notch) but Sakkarakatti has really made ARR fans sigh(yours truly being no exception) with the music release being delayed for over 3 months.The latest buzz is that the music will be out within a week(hopefuuly).Nothing is confirmed yet;we'll know when ARR makes his trip to the Darga,a thing he does every time when his music for a film is released.

Lukka Chuppi..

I don't listen to Hindi songs much;not being able to understand what I'm listening to puts me off.But being a die hard fan of ARR I decided to give Rangde Basanthi a try.Needless to say,RDB,paatshala and khalbhali appealed almost instantly(ARR songs usually take time to poison the mind).Lukka chuppi didn't interest me that much.It was after I watched the movie(with subtitles,of course) I could understand what Lataji and ARR were singing.And now I can't stop listening to it.Here's the video of ARR recording the song in his studio:
