A peculiar name for a monkey

I wonder how people studying biology and medicine are able to remember the nomenclature for different organisms.Apparently every living thing in this blessed world has a biological name which is complex enough to qualify as a tongue twister in an English club and twist your brain cells as well. But beat this-there is a monkey species by the name "GoldenPalace.com Monkey".This fellow was discovered in western Bolivia's Madidi National Park in 2004. Rather than choosing a name themselves, the discoverers auctioned off the naming rights to raise funds for FUNDESNAP, the nonprofit organization that maintains Madidi National Park. GoldenPalace.com, one of over a dozen bidders, paid US$ 650,000 to have the species named after them.

A good fusion in violin

Check out this fusion on violin by Balabhaskar. The piece is in the raag Kaapi, the same one as Kaadhal Rojave is based on(though not purely I guess). This is one of the best fusion pieces I've listened to,along with Yakshaas' Pariksha(search in Google and you'll find links to that one).I must say Balabhaskar has done a good job here, nicely blending in the different sections of the piece. And just observe the bassie in the video,he's a real professional :)

Lukka Chuppi..

I don't listen to Hindi songs much;not being able to understand what I'm listening to puts me off.But being a die hard fan of ARR I decided to give Rangde Basanthi a try.Needless to say,RDB,paatshala and khalbhali appealed almost instantly(ARR songs usually take time to poison the mind).Lukka chuppi didn't interest me that much.It was after I watched the movie(with subtitles,of course) I could understand what Lataji and ARR were singing. And now I can't stop listening to it.Here's the video of ARR recording the song in his studio:

Karaoke songs

I've searched quite a lot for tamil karaoke songs on the net but really didn't find any site that hosted perfect minus one tracks.People always confuse karaoke with minus one tracks.A karaoke track is usually done using MIDI(though the track will be in mp3 format) which is sequenced by somebody and therefore will NOT be same as the original song.A minus one track is essentially the original soundtrack with the vocals removed(the vocal track alone is absent;hence the name minus one),so the beats and BGM are those used in the original song. These are hard to get, believe me.

Anyway some sites for karaokes and minus one tracks for tamil and hindi:

iniya-thamizhosai.blogspot.com
bdroot.com/karaokelovers/home/index.php
rose4you.dk
esnips.com

In esnips you'll find hundreds of tracks.Search appropriately.
I love Shakespeare.Though I admit I have never read any of his plays I have more than once been motivated by quotes which I have come across on the net.I must say these quotations come into play in our lives at least once-they are for all times! Here are some of my favorites:
Action is eloquence.

Blow, blow, thou winter wind Thou art not so unkind, As man's ingratitude.
If music be the food of love, play on, Give me excess of it; that surfeiting, The appetite may sicken, and so die.

Nothing emboldens sin so much as mercy.

All the world's a stage, And all the men and women merely players; They have their exits and their entrances, And one man in his time plays many parts, His acts being seven ages.

What's in a name? That which we call a rose By any other name would smell as sweet.

Forrest Gump-One of Tom Hanks' best

Hollywood.Everytime I hear that word,my brain synonymises it with ‘action’ and I am entirely responsible for that.I have watched quite a lot of those stereotype flicks that involve action-by-the-minute sequences such that by the end of the movie I feel like going out and landing a few martial moves on somebody myself! However I decided to download a movie called ‘Forrest Gump’ and was mightly impressed when I watched it .This is one movie I’d recommend sans inhibitions to anybody.Tom Hanks has proved his mettle as one of Hollywood’s finest-his body language and dialogue delivery are impeccable,to say the least.Watch it if you get the chance.
